Former StaffThis has been a feature since forever. You could always go to "comments" on top and specify ID of the post which comments you want to see. This is why I have been constantly trying to ask from everyone that why are they copying comments.

By default, if your image exceeds 1280px in either dimension, it gets downscaled and JPG compressed badly to 1280px height or width. This process still keeps .png as filetype even though it has been converted to .jpg, which is not proper way of handling file extensions at all. Artist needs to re their submission for it to stay original quality and dimensions. However if someone takes the post right after it got posted and does not force refresh the page after artist does second , they still get served the FA version of the image.

If not supplying links (or quotes), no-one's ever going to casually look up comments on old posts through /comments/search. e621 could really use some kind of post merging tool, as has been brought up before I'm certain.

Former StaffAs I have been processing flags, it seems like many s do not do many other things either and generates more work which takes more time for everyone in future, so I'm just constantly fixing stuff along the way as I see them. Includes sourcing, tagging, pooling, parent/child post relations and replacing post with higher quality post, but not the highest.
But with comments, descriptions are open to be edited by anyone, so if you do see posts being replaced, instead of copy-pasting all the comments, simply link old post like that in description. Anyone is able to check if post have had child posts of any sort with search: parent:1289737 status:any
I do not see any value on any more merging than favorites with posts, but then again, I also do not see value on comments on deleted posts to begin with so that might just be me.

PrivilegedI agree with what you say except for that. I don't even understand why you bring up the value of comments on deleted posts... Of course there's no value having comments on a deleted post, they're in almost all cases supposed to be on the parent, which is the whole reason for wanting better (optional?) merging or linking. It almost make it sound like you find comments in general useless, so then why do we have comments in the first place?
