Man, I didn't EVER get that kind of encouragement from a teacher.

There's probably more people in the US who have died at school than there are people who got genuinely inspired by a teacher like this.

Our education system is a dumpster fire.

Same. Closest to it were the incessant "This student is not living up to their full potential" remarks on every report card, going on for so long that I began to truly despise the word "potential" because 1) the education system is not set up to actually do anything about a student's potential, and 2) the "higher education" system (e.g. college) doesn't give a flying fuck about your "potential," only your bank . My "potential" did not land me even one scholarship.

I'm sure I would likely be there myself if I thought it would do anything for me.

Sometimes people don't believe it will work and then it does.

But sometimes therapy just isn't right for everyone, and people don't seem to realize that. Everybody reacts to stress and trauma differently, and similarly, everybody has their own way of dealing with things. So therapy isn't always the answer.

So long as you're making progress, then it doesn't matter how you cope unless you're doing something to hurt yourself or those around you. Everyone is different and thus has different needs 🙃

  • my "journalism" class was a JOKE. Write what the teacher tells you to write. Have an opinion? See something a different point of view? DARE write something else? FAIL.
