BlockedSomething tells me that THIS time around, he really will beat them with bulletproof skin. None of those soldiers are using guns chambered for armor-piercing rounds. They're all using SMGs, not assault rifles or sniper rifles. Also, their magazines are too skinny to contain armor-piercing rifle bullets, and they were using the same weapons during their first attack on the Rogue Diamond. If they'd been using armor-piercing rounds during that first assault, that shot that struck Rarity in the heel wouldn't have just punctured her boot and minorly injured her heel-- it would've gone clean through her foot.
Even if the gun appearances don't dictate their power in this comic, I seriously doubt they suddenly decided to switch ammunition and guns between then and now.
Chances are those numbskulls will aim for the biggest vulnerable part of Spike's body: his chest. And since the headshot he took before only left him with a concussion and minor breaking of the skin, his torso will probably shrug off all their shots like they're made of paper.
...Or, y'know, the girls will just step in and gun down all of the soldiers before they can even pull their triggers.
