Back at the bigger table, Amani was saying, “Now, Rosette-darling, I know we’ve broached the topic of a new aerial shipping route before--”

“And I’ve made my thoughts on that very clear,” Rosette agreed, eyes and smile sharp.

“I agreed with your points! Too few wings on deck, as it were. I’m loath to demand more of your flyers if there’s simply no way…”

“I am sorry it’s not a viable option yet, Amani,” Rosette told him with a perfectly polite amount of remorse. “I know how much you’d like to expand. Transporting that much fabric so far is no easy feat, though, and unfortunately the resources for it don’t exist right now.”

“If only they could,” Amani said wistfully; Rosette had to resist the urge to grit her teeth, particularly when he immediately gestured to the box before him. “Despite all that, I thought it would be nice to give you a little sample of what I had in mind, should such a route someday manifest. The coastal towns in the east currently offer some of the best materials for future fashion trends, you see. I supposed there would be no better way to demonstrate this than to offer you a particularly delightful, rare example~”

Rosette’s face was blank before he opened up the box. When the warm light of the restaurant was cast upon what lay inside, it bounced back, a honey-golden spectacle. Rosette’s eyes widened and she unconsciously leaned forward to stare at the necklace now revealed to her. “Are those… golden pearls?”

“Indeed! An entire necklace constructed from shiny clam-perls! Isn’t it dazzling?”

“It’s beautiful!” It looked like a delicate collection of tiny suns.
