MemberIn reality Humans are the only mammal species to have permanently enlarged breasts. They claim it's an evolutionary trait to attract a mate, though if the reason really were that simple I don't understand why it doesn't apply to other animals. Then again, I guess visual attraction matters a lot more with Humans while every other animal relies singularly on, what, scent?

The best running theory of why human females have permanently engorged breasts is exactly for this reason.
It shows they are currently raising a child.
And children who are taken care of by both a mother and father have higher survival rates.
Especially in a species that needs around a decade for the child to become sexually mature and reproduce.
So attraction to, and permanently having, engorged mammies was evolutionally positively rewarded.
Now why did permanently engorged mammaries not become standart in other mammals that have children that need around a decade to reach sexual maturity and/or reproduction age?
Hard to say. As the only other animals are a few other great apes, like Orangutans, and Elephants.
Maybe it's because their mammaries are just siginificantly less visible, under fur, between legs, and their chests point more downward. Compaired to the very upright walking and chest forward presenting humans.
