3:40 OMG is this the inspiration for the Cagney Shuffle??

    Yes.

Cagney's idle animation in his first phase is a reference to the dancing style of a ghost in the 1930 Talkartoon Swing You Sinners!, who is, in turn, a reference to Monroe Silver, a popular Jewish vaudeville comedian from the 1930's who frequently incorporated a similar dance into his routines.

    Well, Your Not Wrong.
In "Minnie The Moocher", (Made by the same people, Max & Dave Fleisxher, & staff at a similar time, 1932) The Lyrics of the song at the end say "She loved'a him, though he was cokey." & "He showed her how to kick the gong around". This implies that Minnie's boyfriend, Smokey Joe, Is not only a crack addict, But also got Minnie hooked on opium, A highly addictive depressive drug. To Quote www.phonoproject.com,
"In those days, Kicking the gong was slang for smoking opium. Now this might sound crazy, but in years past, New York Chinatown was littered with secret opium dens. People of all kinds came to try this addictive substance, including the songs main characters: Smokey Joe and Minnie The Moocher. "
