Joking aside the impression this world gives me is not so much that heaven and hell are legit enemies but rather that each side of the spectrum are serving a purpose and the demons there have a specific job they're supposed to do, and most of them actually aren't. Probably because they were overworked and needed a vacation, which they're now getting. Several thousand years is a long time to work without getting away from the workplace from time to time.
