Honestly I’d be looking at Paul as exactly the kind of leader a company should have. He’s driven and acts on what he says. This alone shows he stands by his convictions and calls his dad out on his cowardly BS. Sexuality doesn’t detract from his ability to do a job, but narrow-mindedness sure does.

  • Some "mother" she's being. At least she tried to talk some reason into her husband by requestioning him.

  • Paul's parents never seemed to realize that he had no interest in forcibly being the heir to Gregory's fortune. He's not going to dance to their tune anymore, so he leaves home, where he's loved only when he obeys. Paul won't let his parents push him around anymore.

  • Sadly, I can imagine Paul's parents kidnapping him, and using their fortune to silence any witnesses. That way, nobody will ever know that they had a gay son.

The laws of mere mortals don't apply to the rich, after all, and some people will go to any (and I mean any) lengths to preserve their reputation.

Either they can kidnap Thomas to get Paul to come home, otherwise the donkey will get hurt.

  • Putting aside the story heavy stuff here I love how Margareth reacts with the face of "hold up- maybe this is a bit too far" in the second .

Nnnnnnnno, I disagree. Paul is doing what is best for him and Thomas (and good for him) but let's say he actually was the leader of a company. If he's willing to damage or crash it for the sake of a personal relationship he is the exact type of leader a company should not have. Mostly because more than his family and presonal reputation is at risk with a move like that.

People lose their jobs and livelihoods all the time because leaders put their personal pleasure and "convictions" over the wellbeing of their company and employees.

lRL Paul would be a guy born into wealth who had his needs met at every opportunity up until now and doesn't like that this life of luxury has strings attached. If he doesn't want the responsiblity and can live with the consequences then he absolutely should leave (his father's inability to realize that people forced into positions they revile make poor leaders doesn't help) but none of that would make him a good leader of a company. Impulsiveness is also not generally a good trait for a leader to have, nor the inability to come up with any arguments beyond "I want to date him and you'll just have to live with it".

I do find the entire concept of dynasties questionable because the qualities of leadership aren't neccessarily heritable though (which begs the question why they only had a single child, that's just asking for something to go horribly wrong).

Edit: (I also assume that the parents actually checked that their fear of consequences is well founded and that this isn't an asspull by the author to generate cheap drama. What year is the comic even set in?)

You make some very good points

  • Ah yes, for the family business. Good on Paul for committing to being himself instead of the son his father wants and shame on his father for putting wealth and status above his family.

  • The thing is, while some prudish people would probably refrain from doing business with the family due to Paul's sexuality, it would probably be more damaging if he pretended to be straight but got caught out in a lie, because then the honesty of the company is called into question. Much better choice to wear it on his sleeve; what you see is what you get.

  • i dont know how old is suposed to be here but maybe he could find a job and make this work but 99% of the times will end with him taking all this back doh. again this is a power fantasy comic so it can end up being good for him

Damn, Paul already saw this coming. He had a bug-out bag waiting and everything.

Like imagine how awful Greg has to be, just for Paul to have a duffel bag prepared for when he gets kicked out of the house.

Actually, Paul intended to go see Thomas that evening, but Greg insisted he should stay for dinner. He likely already packed before for that before plans changed.

Noticed that myself... Heart-breaking, that he knew ahead time this would happen. Says more about him and his awareness than his parents.
