Seems that it was some people out there that really liked M.H:s 3D animation, so here it is again: A longer sequence with more sound.
Divx codec needed!

All greymuzzles report! e621 is literally too young to have had this ed lol

This animation was made by an artist that goes by M.H. and ed in early 2003 to unicorn.wereanimal.net (the watermark is original), which is essentially someone's curated gallery that was rendered obsolete by the likes SoFurry, FurAffinity, and Furnation. Yes, that old.
It claimed to be the only place where the artist allowed his work to be posted, with a request for any reposts to be flagged to the artist via email.
This animation became notorious by being reposted everywhere, and 20 years of repost grinder has really chewed up any copies you're likely to find.

The original unicorn.wereanimal.net went offline in 2010 (see the e6 forum thread discussing it); it is preserved on the wayback machine, but only links to image posts are functional.

Lucky for us, Aradd The Black Unicorn has - as far as i can tell - maintained his internet kingdom by himself since 1997 despite multiple URL changes. The current version is araddunicorn.atspace.cc and everything looks identical...

... down to how the animation links are broken in the exact same way. Does this mean they've been broken since the 2000's? I don't know, but Aradd tells me i'm the first to ever email him about it - which i did, whereupon he was very friendly an fixed the link. Coulda saved myself a heck of a lot of research if i did that sooner. I even emailed the original artist on both his addresses (one bounced and one never responded) - you don't need to hear my tale, the Odyssey is still in theaters, basically i found Aradd's email and he fixed the links. Everyone say thanks Aradd.

With that, and with the caveat that you can never get the "original" of a digital file because it's only ever copies, this is the freshest copy that was ever available on the internet, as few steps removed as possible from the one owned by the artist themselves. This resolution and this compression is as good as it ever was.
I converted it to AV1+OPUS for the requirements of e621; for some reason it took a lot of trial and error to do that without losing detail, and it weights 3.5MB where the original was 0.9MB. Weird, but idk if i can do better

There's also a still render by the same artist (see parent post) and this looks like a motion tweened version of that rather than an actual 3D animation.
So, does a motion tweened 3D render count as 3D animation? Regardless, imo it should still be tagged as 3D animation or else nobody will be able to find it - but i leave that decision to future taggers.

Many thanks to M.H. (wherever he is now), Aradd The Black Unicorn for keeping the website alive all these years, Techwolf for enabling him, and Rainquack for letting me know that it still exists under a different name!
